Dr. Merrigan will advise students during office hours on a drop-in basis (first come, first served). COMM majors & minors may also seek advising during the Department's Open Advising Hours each week in HUM 291. Those hours are posted outside the COMM department office, HUM 289. The LCA Advising Resource Center in HUM 110 can also provide advice about COMM major requirements, graduation applications, and advising for students on academic probation.

Bio:

Dr. Gerianne Merrigan (Ph.D., University of Washington, 1992) is Professor and former Chair of Communication Studies at SFSU. Her undergraduate degrees are in Elementary Education (Bachelor of Arts) and Broadcasting (Bachelor of Science). 

Geri teaches courses in Organizational Communication and in Research Methods in the Communication Studies Department. She also teaches Communication Techniques & Strategies for Educational Leaders in the EDDL program at SF State. 

The 4th edition of her book, Communication Research Methods (with Carole Huston, Oxford University Press) was published in January 2019. 

Hiking in the open spaces of the Peninsula is one of her favorite extracurricular activities.
