Bio:

Professor Ching’s undergraduate writing courses focus on ethnographic fieldwork, writing in digital environments, and videogame analysis. He also teaches graduate courses in the composition masters program focused on composition theory, rhetorical theory, teaching with technology, and qualitative research methods. His research interests include teacher preparation, digital literacies, and composition pedagogy, especially the practice of using peer response groups in the composition classroom. His work has appeared in journals such as Composition StudiesComputers and CompositionRhetoric Review, and JAC, as well as the website Inside Higher Ed. Prior to joining the faculty at SFSU, Ching taught college composition at a number of institutions, including UC Irvine, UC Davis, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. When he’s not reading, writing, or teaching, he runs, hikes, plays videogames, produces loud noises on various musical instruments, and tends his own small corner of the social media universe.
