Rooted in Guatemalan culture and spirituality, Vivian Chávez is Associate Professor of Public Health & Community Wellness at San Francisco State University. She completed postdoctoral studies in Community-Based Participatory Research at the University of Michigan, and a Certificate of Spirituality & Social Justice at the Pacific School of Religion, Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, CA. Vivian is a yoga instructor & registered somatic movement educator she applies expressive arts to teach about health promotion and disease prevention. A storyteller by nature, Vivian co-edited Prevention is Primary: Strategies in Community Wellbeing, co-authored Drop That Knowledge: Youth Radio Stories, and produced Cultural Humility: People, Principles & Practices.
