Zena Mello

Zena R. Mello (she/her) is a first-generation college student and a Professor of Psychology. She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cognition and Development at the University of California, Berkeley; a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Human Development and Family Studies at the Pennsylvania State University; a B.A. in Psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz; and an A.A. at Santa Rosa Junior College. Dr.

Kenneth P Monteiro

Dr. Kenneth Monteiro is the Acting Director of the Cesar Chavez Institute; former Dean of the College of the College of Ethnic Studies, the only College of Ethnic Studies in the nation; former University Dean of Human Relations; and, Professor and former chair of the Psychology Department at San Francisco State University.   Before teaching at San Francisco State, he was on faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at Rutgers University at New Brunswick.  Dr. Monteiro received his Ph.D.

Jason Ferreira

Jason Ferreira is Associate Professor in the Department of Race & Resistance Studies located within the College of Ethnic Studies at San Francisco State University.  He holds a BA in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign (1992) and both an MA and PhD in Comparative Ethnic Studies from the University of California at Berkeley (2003).  He has been a recipient of the University of California President's Postdoctoral Fellowship, and in 2019-20, he served as a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University in the Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History.

Catriona Rueda Esquibel

Catriona Rueda Esquibel holds a B.A. in English from New Mexico Highlands University (1988), a Master’s degree in English literature from the University of Colorado (1991), and a Ph.D. in the History of Consciousness Program at UC Santa Cruz (1999). Prior to joining the faculty at SFSU in 2005, she held positions at New Mexico State University (English) and The Ohio State University (Women's Studies). She joined the Race and Resistance Studies program as a specialist in gender, Women of Color feminist theory, and queer POC literature.

Belinda I Reyes

An Associate Professor at the Department of Latina and Latino Studies at San Francisco State’s College of Ethnic Studies, Belinda is an expert in demographics, education, immigration, urban economics, opportunity youth, and the social and economic progress of Latinx in the Unites States.  Her research focuses on policy issues confronting the Latinx in the United States. She has briefed various federal, state, and local governmental bodies and addressed numerous civic organizations.
